the rents

my parents are coming to visit this weekend. we've really been looking forward to their stay and i'm sure we'll have a great weekend. they are pretty laid back and have assured us that we don't have to "entertain" them while they are here. they are just looking forward to being where the temperatures are warmer and they can see their favorite (read: only) daughter and son-in-law. would be nice to have a really full house with my brother and sister-in-law, but maybe next time.

we were banking on some nice weather, but it seems as though we might have to dodge some rain on saturday. otherwise, it will be nice. hurrah! considering they are both plant extraordinaires (i think i mentioned that i grew up on a vegetable and flower farm), we're hoping to at least get something in the ground. my dad loves to build him some stone planters, so if we can get one of those while they are here, then we've really scored!

we've been feverishly working on the house to get things ready. what we have yet to do:
*reupholster the headboard in the guest room
*pray that the new guest room linens from overstock get here by tomorrow
*get fresh flowers for all over the house
*finish painting the master bedroom (1 wall to go!)
*assemble new dressers (no more "honey, is this pile of clothes clean or dirty?!")
*decorate master bedroom (hang stuff, etc.)
*hang cafe curtain in kitchen
*one more coat of paint on the ugly bathroom vanity
*paint my new favorite piece of furniture -- the new side table
*paint the barstools (i always have a can of black spray paint on hand)
*buy a tree for the living room
*see if those magic erasers really work (please!)
*fix the rocking chair on the front porch
*clean the blinds
*dust
*drink lots of coffee to get us through and lots of beer to celebrate when we're done!
